Sample Studies in engineering for female pupils
Getting young women excited about STEM subjects is the mission of the Engineering Science Taster University for female students at RWTH Aachen University. And when it comes to spending a week getting a taste of engineering science at RWTH Aachen University, a stop in the research context of the Cluster of Excellence Internet of Production IoP is a must. It didn't take much convincing for the nine motivated schoolgirls who visited the IoP as part of this year's taster week on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.
Curious, clearly focused and willing to accept not only a vacation week, but also sometimes very long distances - throughout Germany from Munich to Warstein, but also internationally from England, Turkey and with the furthest journey even from Hong Kong - the participants underlined and designed together with the scientists of the IoP a great afternoon, in which there was much to discover and try out.
Whether assembling toy cars in the innovation lab followed by a walk through the demonstration factory, or controlling cobots themselves and walking through the hall with the drone or with the Robo-Dog: Maria Spiß and Sebastian Junglas from the FIR and Aline Kluge-Wilkes from the WZL each opened the doors to their institutes and, in addition to the fundamental theoretical basics from their departments, showed many impressive use cases and also managed to convey complex topics in a clear and practical manner.
