Japanese Delegates of JMBTA on A Visit at The IoP
A delegation from the Japan Machine Tool Builders' Association JMTBA, the association of Japanese machine tool manufacturers, on a trip to Germany, including the visit to the EMO trade fair in Hannover took the opportunity to visit the Cluster of Excellence. Informing themselves on site about the new direction of Aachen production technology with the research topics of the Cluster of Excellence Internet of Production IoP, the delegation was shown around the Campus. There have been ongoing close connections between the (previous) cluster and Japan for many years, including in exchange with KEIO University.
This time, of course, the focus was on the topic of machine tools. In addition to Japanese scientists, the delegation was comprised of representatives of well-known Japanese manufacturers interested in seeing some of their machines in research on site. IoP spokesman Professor Christian Brecher received the delegation in Aachen, which, in addition to attending specialized lectures, also had the time to inspect demonstrators and laboratories as part of their tour. On both sides, there is great interest in further expanding future topics and opportunities for cooperation, as was emphasized in the final round of discussions.
