Cluster Research at EUROMAT2019 Stockholm
On September 1 to 5, researchers of the Chair of Manufacturing Technology represented the Cluster’s integrative approach at EUROMAT2019 in Stockholm. EUROMAT, the leading international congress of materials science and technology in Europe connects more than 1000 participants from industry and scientific research every two years, giving the community a forum to discuss current developments and create new perspectives within the field of materials management.
The researchers Professor Dr. Thomas Bergs, Dr. Mustapha Abouridouane as well as Daniel Schraknepper and Dr. Guido Wirtz of the Chair of Manufacturing Technology represented their projects in the Swedish capital and had the chance to engage with critical developments within the industry during various plenary sessions, discussions and speeches surrounded by an international and collaborative environment.
The EUROMAT congress, which took place for the first time in 1989 in Aachen, primarily focuses on the future oriented integrative approach “Integrated Computational Materials Engineering” ICME, which is one of the core practices of the Cluster. Here, the materials are taken into account from the first stage of system planning onwards with all their unique modalities so that a precise tuning of the tailored materials is possible.
With reference to this focus, Mustapha Abouridouane offered insights into his constituive materials model based on the cost efficient simulation of metal cutting processes during his presentation.“EUROMAT2019 was a successfull conference, especially in the area of development and vlidation of approaches for materials modeling”, Abouridouane summarizes. The next EUROMAT will take place in 2021 in Graz.
