Increasing Productivity Through Collaboration
A delegation of Japanese KEIO University used the opportunity of informing themselves about Aachen’s manufacturing facilities like the Cluster of Excellence Integrative Production Technology for High-wage Countries and the Campus concept on-site in Aachen at the beginning of the year. Within the framework of the visit, research results with reference to the challenges, chances and future trends in the field of “Industrie 4.0” within and outside of Japan were discussed. The day ended with a discussion on future cooperations and with a tour of the Laboratory for Machine Tools and the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology (IPT). The delegation expressed appreciation for the work environment created in Aachen, especially the developments on Campus Melaten which enable researchers to use modern technology and the newest methods and insights in the field of production technology as well as the extensive Cluster institutions to conduct their research.
