Prof. Dr. Wil van der Aalst named ACM Fellow

Professor Dr. Wil van der Aalst from the Chair of Process and Data Science (PADS) has once again been recognized for his scientific achievement and was named an ACM Fellow. In addition to van der Aalst, Prof. Joost-Pieter Katoen (Chair of Computer Science 2), another computer scientist from RWTH Aachen University, was honored as a Fellow of the ACM. The ACM - Association for Computing Machinery, is the world's largest society for educational and scientific data processing. Wil van der Aalst is one of the most cited computer scientists worldwide and is considered a proven expert in the areas of process mining, business process management, workflow management systems and data science.

Van der Aalst was thus elected a Fellow last year by the three most important associations in the field of computer science and electrical engineering: the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) and now also the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).

On January 1, 2018, Wil van der Aalst succeeded in winning an Alexander von Humboldt professorship as a professor at RWTH Aachen University. He is one of our principal investigators in the context of the cluster of excellence research of the Internet of Production IoP, deputy speaker and CRD coordinator in the research area "Infrastructure" .
