Once again in 2018, the University for Pupils Mechanical Engineering united 24 pupils from all over Germany during their holidays in order to gain a valuable insight into the logistics and content of attending university. The week-long event especially focused on displaying the possibilityies and numerous applications of mechanical engineering within academic research. The event took place from August 6-10, 2018 and was supported by the Cluster of Excellence. Various activities like lectures on industrial robotics and laser systems as well as guided tours through different institutes and experimental student labs completed an exiting week.

While Dominic (17) from Mönchengladbach especially highlights the simulated "Beer Distribution Game" as a welcome alternation to the lectures, Melissa (17) from Alsdorf chooses the insights into process engineering, conveyed by means of a lecture and subsequent experiments, as her personal highlight. Charlotte from Munich (18) assesses the week-long event as a positive experience: "It has been a very informative week and I especially liked the insights into plastics processing".
"Especially with reference to the future and choosing what to study, the event has helped me very much. I already set sights on mechanical engineering years ago, but the University for Pupils helped me strenghten this vision", Esther (17) from the larger Neuss area, evaluates her experience. This year, the University for Pupils was once again able to give pupils from all over Germany a valuable opportunity to learn about their intende subjects of study, evaluate their visions of an academic future and ask their most important questions to experts from within the field.
