Summer School "Production Technology meets Industrie 4.0"
Summertime is of course also "Summer School Time" at the IoP. And so, as part of the IoP Cluster of Excellence's Summer School entitled "Production Technology meets Industry 4.0", Managing Director Christian Fimmers had the pleasure of welcoming numerous international guests to Aachen at the start of the event. In addition to Fimmers, numerous researchers from the IoP designed the program of the three intensive and, above all, interesting weeks from July 31 to August 18, 2023, for the students, who came primarily from the Asian region, who are concerned with the Internet of Production and thus the future topics and challenges within production technology.
The interdisciplinary composition of the participating scientists from five RWTH faculties offers a unique opportunity to realize the vision of the Internet of Production. The IoP brings together outstanding researchers from different disciplines. In addition, the cluster has a unique technical environment. A large number of test benches, real production machines as well as laboratories of the participating institutes provide a first-class infrastructure, complemented by a networked digital infrastructure of the participating institutes, which had to be discovered as part of the vision of a World Wide Lab. Over the course of the summer, Christian Fimmers and his colleagues from the Cluster of Excellence had the opportunity to present the contents and visions of the IoP in a series of further summer workshops.
