Abstract

During the planning of manufacturing processes for fibre-reinforced composites, 70 % of the later component costs are already determined. The currently established planning approaches are time-consuming, driven by intuition and the acceptance of existing support tools is lacking. This results in cost-intensive and iterative planning based on best-practice approaches, which impedes the large-scale application of fibre-reinforced composites. Therefore, the objective of this dissertation is to increase the efficiency, objectivity and user-orientation of fibre-reinforced composites planning. For this purpose, the utilisation of artificial intelligence in the context of fibre-reinforced composites planning is evaluated and a planning methodology is derived. Based on this, an AI-based planning support is developed in a user-centred approach. With the help of this novel planning support, fibre-reinforced composites processes can be planned faster and more objectively compared to established support tools. At the same time, the higher user acceptance enables a promising commercial exploitation of the planning support.
