Lightweight construction find its way into everyday life: Due to their low weight cars and airplanes consume considerably less fuel. The rotor blades for powerful wind turbines constists for the most part of fiber-reinforced plastics. Even modern sport equipment such as windsurfing equipment or mountain bikes are nowadays made of glass and carbon fibre reinforced synthetic materials. But the previous production methods for the ultra-light components are mostly connected with a lot of manual work - therefore such components are manufactered in small series.
