Potential students getting to know engineering

Attending university for one of the first times – “Schüler-Uni Maschinenbau” of the RWTH Aachen University

Prospective engineers gather information about the right study choice. The insight into everyday life of university assisted 26 participating school students of this year’s “Schüler-Uni Maschinenbau” in choosing the right course. Therefore the school students had a great experience broadening their horizons and getting a more detailed picture of the engineers’ work and research fields. Even school students from Spain, the USA and Mexico travelled to Aachen to explore their possibilities. At least since this orientation week most of them are sure about becoming a mechanical engineer after they have finished school.

The Cluster of Excellence “Integrative Production Technology for High-Wage Countries” also took part in this project week and provided an exciting insight into the future work and research fields at the RWTH Aachen University. The range of courses is expansive: Whether about combustion engines, the specially made Star-Wars hologram or the Selective-Laser-Melting – the school students were enthusiastic about the wide-ranging possibilities. The next upcoming event of the RWTH Aachen University for school students is the “MINT-Camp”, attended by the Cluster of Excellence, on November 10 to 14, 2014. The one-week workshop ends with the RWTH Science Night on the 14th.
