Delegation Visit and GMIS in Paris
CoE-managing director Denis Özdemir presented the Cluster of Excellence in an international exchange on a delegation visit under the motto “Industry of the Future in Europe – Strong Together!” on the Dassault Systèmes Campus in Paris-Velizy from April 4-6, 2016.
The network “Zukunftsallianz Maschinenbau – Fit for Future Markets”, with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Brecher being a member of the Advisory Board, has charged this delegation visit. “Zukunftsallianz Maschinenbau” has set itself the goal of strengthening the small and medium-sized enterprises of mechanical engineering and industrial automation technology on a global scale. In the course of this delegation visit, the “Global Manufacturing and Industrialization Summit” (GMIS) took place – which is initiated, among others, by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and deals with the challenges in terms of global sustainability for the manufacturing sector. During this summit, Özdemir presented the Cluster of Excellence and its research objectives beyond Europe in an international exchange with high level debate partners like Christophe Yvetot (UNIDO) and Simon Mencarelli (CEO of the start-up company XYt by France Craft). This event is associated with the recently initiated cooperation of the French and German government in the area of innovation exchange for the future of European industry. Özdemir focused on the field of integration during the round table: In addition to classic integration technologies, the integration of digital models in real output and "System Engineering" as a concept which combines disciplines, Özdemir emphasized the integration of networks. He stressed that network effects should be used, but at the same time know-how has to be protected in order to preserve and expand future competitiveness in the face of global competition.
