Marvin Laugwitz was honored with the advancement award “Umformtechnik” 2016


Cluster researcher Marvin Laugwitz from the Institute of Metal Forming (IBF) was honored with the advancement award “Umformtechnik” (“forming”) 2016.


The prize was awarded by Schwermetall Halbzeug GmbH & Co.KG as a recognition of his outstanding scientific accomplishments as part of his master thesis. The 28-Year-Old was very pleased about the prize, “I am very honored by the award”, he says. His topic of research within his master thesis was about „Process acceleration and functional extension by form-fit joining of incremental hole flanging operations” which he investigated in the Institute of Metal Forming (IBF), a partner bank of the Cluster of Excellence.  He was able to develop methodical and constructive process solutions which enable process acceleration and form-fit joining. The master thesis which was developed in the cluster-research area of Integrated Technologies was also honored with the Young Student Award 2016 (1st place) in the context of the SAB 2016. Currently the native of cologne is working as a research assistant at the IBF where he does his doctorate. Postdoctoral he would like to work in the area of aerospace.
